From theivaults of Eurocine comes this horrifying tale of sexual perversion andidemonc rituals…
Jess Franco (Vampyros Lesbos, Female Vampire) directs and stars in this shocking thriller of a depraved religious fanatic. A Catholic priest, defrocked for the severity of his beliefs, writes for a French sex magazine. His editor praises his stories for their vivid erotic cruelty, which the author claims is based on "real-life experience." When the priest witnesses a series of staged Black Masses - complete with phony human sacrifices - he becomes convinced that the participants are possessed by spiritual evil and he dedicates himself to cutting the spirit of Satan from their hearts with "the Sword of the Lord." He hunts the unsuspecting victims one by one... "cleansing" their souls of the Devil's dark influence.
Exorcism was released in the United States in a heavily edited, alternate version entitled Demoniac. This specially prepared DVD release of Exorcism was created by Eurocine, the film's production company, and contains footage never before seen in the U.S. Jess Franco fans can now add one of his best and most controversial films to their collections.

Franco speaks! - 3.5 out of 5 (11/26/2001)
There have always been two schools of thought on the films of Jess Franco.
There is the first that feels his films have raised horror to a new level of
eroticism and terror, and the other school feels that his films are just
cheap exorcises in tasteless sex and masochism.
EXORCISM is a film that will lend credence to either of those arguments,
but the mishandling of the film through the years have presented us with at
least four different versions of the same film, and it's hard to make
